Pirates Breakdown Experiences Significant Growth, Welcomes New Writers

While it’s not often we write about ourselves here at Pirates Breakdown, after all you’re reading and listening to us for information about the Pittsburgh Pirates, we occasionally want to take a few moments to tell you, our dedicated readers, how we’re working to improve the product we deliver.

To that end we have some exciting things to share!

Sponsorships

We’ve experienced a lot of growth in the first six months our independent media site has been live and we could not have done it without our main sponsor and friend Dr. Brent Shealer of Shealer Chiropractic. In fact, the clinic has expanded their sponsorship with us to now include a “Shealer Chriopractic Adjustment of the Week” in our weekly podcast, which highlights a player, or managerial move that personifies the word “Adjustment,” along with expanded website advertising.

If you don’t know much about Dr. Shealer, he’s definitely someone who needs to be on your radar – especially if you participate in sports on any level. He is one of the area’s only certified sports chiropractors and the only one who was selected by the USOC to take care of Olympic athletes during their training. Read about his experiences working with athletes in the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center HERE.

Dr. Shealer was an early supporter of Pirates Breakdown and has previously had this to say about his experience in advertising with PBD:

[pullquote align=”full” cite=”-Dr. Brent Shealer” link=”” color=”#000000″ class=”” size=””]In the three weeks that I’ve been advertising with Pirates Breakdown, I’ve gotten just as many clicks on my site (I keep track with Google Analytics) as I have from other sports blogs. PBD’s content, active readers, and unique sponsorship engagement on social media has been a much better advertising venture for my practice as compared to a more established or well-known site. Cheers and to continued mutual success![/pullquote]

We’re working on more exciting partnerships as we write and are excited to share more announcements on new sponsors soon!

New Faces

We are proud of the talent we have contributing to this site – it is our goal to add writers to our staff who are good at their craft and knowledgeable about Pirates baseball. To that end, we are pleased to announce the addition of two new writers – both of whom you likely already know.

Jamie Baker is known to sports fans in Central Pennsylvania as a sports anchor/reporter for CBS affiliate WTAJ in Altoona. She covers all levels of sports from high school through the pros, and does so with a unique outlook. Baker joins our team as a staff writer, with an extensive knowledge of the Altoona Curve as well as the Pirates.

Josh Taylor, producer/host at Trib Live Radio and anchor on CBS Pittsburgh Sports (KDKA news, Nightly Sports Call and CBS Saturday Sports Showdown), brings a unique voice perfectly centered to discuss all things Pittsburgh Pirates. Check out his first piece,  which ran yesterday.

With the addition of these two trusted members of Pennsylvania sports media, Pirates Breakdown now boasts a staff of 16 writers and editors who are working hard every day to bring you news, views and everything in-between on the Buccos and their affiliates.

Growth, Growth and Growth

In the first six months that this site has been live, Pirates breakdown has achieved so much. We’ve built a strong, steady audience of thousands per day, created strong social media followings and relationships, attracted top-level talent and have had writers invited to appear on multiple radio stations/podcasts, etc. to discuss the Pirates. We’ve had articles picked up by national outlets such as Bleacher Report, MLB Trade Rumors and SB Nation and have received accolades for our in-depth and broad-reaching coverage. We are now included in news aggregation services such as Google News and Apple News – which means what we’re reporting is reaching more people than ever before.

Thank you, dear readers, for helping us reach these milestones – we have so much more that we want to do and plan to in the future.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled Pittsburgh Pirates programming…

Jason Rollison

Jason Rollison has been analyzing baseball and the Pirates in one way or another for 4+ years.

Jason’s previous stops include rumbunter.com, Pittsburgh Sporting News, Call To The Pen and several print publications. He also covers the State College Spikes for the Centre County Gazette (State College, PA)

When it comes to analyzing baseball, he likes to take a middle-of-the-road approach, with one foot on the analytics side of the fence and the other on the old-school side. Having said that, he is a sucker for pitchf/x. Jason has appeared as a phone-in and in-studio guests in numerous outlets, including Trib Live Radio and 93.7 The Fan (CBS Sports Radio)
