Pirates Breakdown has a new look

Pirates Breakdown has a new look!

Hi everyone. I’m beyond thrilled to introduce the new-look Pirates Breakdown!

Our original site was designed by Joe Steigerwald (of PGH Sports Now / PGH Hockey Now fame) all the way back in December of 2015 for our launch. Joe did a fantastic job and gave us a solid footing to do what we have always wanted to do: serve the reader.

By design, PBD had a very basic look. The emphasis was on the words.

That hasn’t changed, nor will it ever change.

But over time, we did find that we had a desire to put more emphasis on presentation. You’ve seen it throughout our work, whether it be infographics, supplemental images, well-presented podcast feeds, etc.

Why should the look and feel of the main site be any different?

We truly feel that with this more engaging look, we can present our work to you, the reader, more effectively. At a glance, you’ll now be able to see the stories that better reflect the always-churning Pittsburgh Pirates news cycle, with much greater immediacy.

Aside from look and feel, nothing will change. We pride ourselves on a very advertising-light approach, and with nothing obtrusive. That will not change. Not on my watch.

So please bear with us as we work out a few kinks here and there…we’re excited about the new design, and welcome your feedback!

And as always, thank you for your readership!
