The longest tenured player for the Pittsburgh Pirates might just be staying around a bit longer.

While the Mets solving their third base need does not absolutely preclude Harrison from being traded, the dearth of smoke surrounding the Harrison trade fire over the past two weeks regarding any team other than the Mets being interested — and New York’s interest was waning to boot — leads many to believe that Harrison will at least start the season with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Things could change. The New York Yankees were thought to be in the market for Harrison when the two clubs were discussing other deals, and should they decide Miguel Andujar is not quite ready for a full time role, they may re-engage. Other teams that were interested — namely the Toronto Blue Jays and Colorado Rockies — seem to have moved on, shrinking the market for Harrison significantly.
The Pittsburgh Pirates will undoubtedly trade Josh Harrison before the season is over, but at this point it would appear that the club’s chances of striking a deal before the 2018 season have slipped away.
